Los Angeles Street Art
Category: Street Art
After feeling I had achieved all I could in Brisbane back in 2016 I decided to jump on a one way flight around the globe hunting for walls to paint where ever I could find them, spending as little as I could on accomodation and food was the goal in hopes to spend those saved funds on precious colours. Although at this point I had established myself in Queensland I had no idea how much learning and development was to come, the work I created over this time aren’t my favourite technically but all in all the adventure and visual learning points sure are worth sharing.
In 2017 I had found a home base in Vancouver, BC and one huge benefit of living on that side of the world is there are so many places that are close by to visit so whenever I found a week or two free in my schedule I would book trips to places around the United States to hunt down walls to paint. Los Angeles was one of those first missions and landed me in some interesting places. During this time I stayed in Compton and spent a lot of my time roaming around Downtown LA and where ever else looked promising, my search for spots wasn’t the most successful and my experience was eventful to say the least and I got work up at DTLA a shop in Downtown LA, The Venice Beach Street Art Walls & spent my other spare time actually painting through the interior of where I was staying.
This two week stint was my first experience of America and one that landed me living amongst people of all different economical backgrounds which acted as more of an experience of life rather than a technique and all in all these moments I think back on quite regularly as if it was a dream, not one filled with rainbows and butterfly’s but with real people, real environments and real learning moments.
