Graduation Mural Tells A Story
Category: School Murals
Baranduda Primary School holds a special place in my heart, as I've facilitated numerous projects on its campus. The teachers, pleased with my previous work, invited me back to paint another mural, and I proposed one of my unique interactive mural structures.
To make this mural stand out, I engaged with a large group of students to gather their drawings and shared values. Some standout elements included Coco, their school dog; the Baranduda Bee; a set of wickets for playing cricket against the wall; butterflies; a soccer ball; flowers; and an overall sense of vibrancy.
Taking it a step further, I designed a mural concept simple enough for the grade 6 students to bring to life themselves. By sectioning the mural with color swatches, I structured a full day of rotating sessions, giving each student two opportunities to add their touch to the wall.
Murals like this are incredibly special. They not only enliven and activate otherwise bland parts of the school but also serve as time capsules and cherished projects. Each student can look back, point to the mural, and proudly say, "I did that."
